Bronzeville Summer Nights

This was a great opportunity to see some local performers and meet some of Bronzeville’s residents in an informal context. A bike ride organised by Small Shop Cycles took us from one point of interest to another – the highlight of this tour being the music of soul singer Mimi Renell at Room 43. Outside this venue I discovered that one of the event volunteers, who works for United Airlines, had just got back from a trip to the UK where she visited the deepest, darkest reaches of Cornwall that I have frequented every summer since childhood – we were talking about a small gallery in Morvah, a village with a population of 49 (most of them probably the four-legged kind). Small world moment.

After the ride I saw Storie Devereaux at the bar Some Like It Black – also great. Video for her latest record above.
